Project Workshop: CloudScapes $130/$30 material fee 1 day, Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, 12-4 pm Workshop Location: Local Cloth Community Dye Studio 408 Depot St.. Suite #100 Asheville, NC 28801 "Clouds are at once untouchable, impermanent, and overpowering; a deep natural language that is constantly changing and adapting to whatever the viewer wants it to be. One that has countless configurations [on to which] we can project infinite moods, meanings and thoughts." -Charmaine Li, 2018 In this single session we will work step-by-step together as we explore various cloud landscapes, from night clouds to thunderheads, cumulus to cirrus. With a range of tones and textures of wool in your roving kit we will work through special techniques to capture the unique qualities of different cloudscapes. You will complete several small studies during class, and be ready to explore more possibilities when you return home. Previous needle felting experience is very helpful, but not required. For a more comprehensive introduction to the tools, techniques and materials it is recommended to begin with the 2-Day Introductory Workshop, however it is not necessary for this project class. All materials are all provided with the $30 material fee, due in class. These include a kit for each student with a range of dyed wool roving in the project palette, felting needles, acrylic felt pinned to a foam block and printed materials outlining tools, fibers and resources. Additionally, each student will have use of an adjustable light to mimic natural daylight for best color accuracy and clarity while working. Classes are held in the fabulous Local Cloth Studios in Asheville's River Arts District at 408 Depot St, Asheville, NC 28801 *Please note: As this is an indoor, group event, masks may be required during the workshop, depending on CDC guidelines at the time.
